Egokills

29/11/2014

When previously introducing the band, I said that their album was planned for September, in the end it's December. I was maybe just too unpatient but who cares as now I finally could listen to « Creation » thanks to soundi.fi

Let me tell you that I fucking loved what I heard. They definitly enter in the group of bands that I will follow and they are a good example of why I find that Finnish bands have just that little thing more. When I discover the music of a band and that I can't do without moving my legs (trying to follow the drums (a failure most of the time)), my head and beginning to dance, even when typing a review, it's a sign that the album will soon be mine.

At some moments like for « Lifestruck » the vocals surprised me but I like it as it's totally not the kind of album that you have the impression to hear almost the same songs all album long. There is a refreshing diversity. When it's about the instruments, it confirms what I said «  it's a good balance and you can easy choose yourself which instrument you prefer to focus on »

These songs deserve a personal mention from me : « Reckoning », « Lifestruck » (my favorite), « Kill Your Ego » , « Shift » and « Insight »

Track list

1. Reckoning

2. Lifestruck

3. Kill Your Ego

4. Metamorphosis

5. Spiral

6. Shift

7. Creation

8. Insight

9. Polarize

10. Reason Reborn

11. To Follow the Sun

If there’s a last album you still need to buy in 2014, it's this one. If you search a nice X-mas present, that album is a good idea and if you simply want to discover good music, then I just advice to listen to « Creation » and I hope you will like it as much as I did.

Finnish hard rock/metal band from Tampere. They exist since 2011.

Until now, their discography is composed by To Follow the Sun / Polarize released in March 2013 and by Kill Your Ego released in May 2014. That last one is the first single of their upcoming debut album, what’s coming out in September 2014.

I already listened to the 3 songs and it seems to be a promising band. You can't really say that they are heavy or groovy as somewhere it's all together.

Kill Your Ego is the kind of song who will stay in your head and I suspect that you can't resist singing with it, minding on some people who have a too big one in your eyes.

The band say about themselves that they have found a solid balance between groovy riffs, big choruses and beautiful melodies and I can only agree. I also appreciate the fact that you don't have any instrument which is better than another, it's a good balance and you can easy choose yourself which instrument you prefer to focus on.

Let's meet in September where FI musica will for sure tell you our mind about their debut album but until then, don't hesitate to go and discover them and like they say...

Take a deep breath, make sure you're comfortable and relaxed, open your mind and hear what Egokills is channeling to you!
