Apocalyptica

If there is one band who proves that music doesn’t have to be fixed, it’s well Apocalyptica. Cello is an instrument who clearly doesn’t make you think on metal music, still this band get known for playing Metallica covers with cellos. They let their instruments discover on the metal fans and let metal discover on those who love the sound of their instruments and become one of the most popular Finnish bands.

On the 24th of October, they were in my city for a show that I couldn’t miss.

Some years ago I was already present at the Apocalyptica gig in Brussels but this time they were better. When it’s about musicians, I wouldn’t say that a lot changed as they were already good then and already did the show too but what changed most here are the special effects which give a total other effect, like every song had an ambiance.

What I like is that they don’t focus their set list on the new album. You have classic, old, recent and new songs but also with vocals or only instrumental. Metal fans but also those who prefer more classic music had nice moments.

That improvement between 2 shows is a good representation of the band. In the beginning, they were a cover band with only cellos, after they began including their own compositions, next step was adding drums on their compositions and then last one was adding the vocals. They keep on evaluating at their own tempo and it’s certainly also one of the reasons of their success.

There are some bands that you have to at least see once live, even you aren’t one of their fans. Simply because they will bring you into their universe and entertain you and Apocalyptica is definitely one of them but until you get that chance, here are some pictures and a video so that you can make you a tiny idea by yourself.
